OBSTETRIC FORCEP SIMPSON BRAUN

NGS® Simpson Braun Obstetrical Forcep also known as the midwifery outlet forceps are used to expedite delivery during intrauterine fetal demise, prolonged labor, shoulder dystocia, fetal distress and meconium staining of the liquor. The instrument has an overall length of 36 cm and has specially curved jaws with fenestrations to exert minimal tissue trauma. Once the baby’s head is visible at the perineum, one blade of the forceps is gently inserted into the vagina and then the other. The shanks are pulled together to close the look and then the forceps is gently retracted to pull the baby out.
