SIMS (BODENHAMMER) RECTAL SPECULUM

NGS® Sims Rectal Speculum is used for exploration of the anus and the rectum during anuscopy, rectal biopsy, hemorrhoidal banding, sclerotherapy and polypectomy. The instrument comprises of two hemispherical blades that are hinged to handles with a screw lock mechanism. The surgeon gently inserts the closed Sims speculum through the anus and positions it in place. He then slowly opens the jaws of the instrument and fixes them with the screw lock, visualizing the mucosa with ease. The advantage of the instrument is that the surgeon can use both hands for surgical manipulation.
