GIERTZ STILLE RIB SHEAR

NGS® Giertz Stille Rib Shear, which is also known as the Shoemaker Rib Shear, is used for the resection of ribs in cardiothoracic surgeries. The shear has two heavy handles that are reinforced to exert effective cuts on tough bony tissues. A cross-bar spring assembly returns the handles to their resting distance after releasing them. The posterior projection enhances the operator’s grasp and prevents inadvertent slippage, while the obtuse angle between the neck and the handles enhances the visualization of the working end and prevents the obstruction of the surgical field. The operator positions the distal hook to encircle the rib and presses the handles together to pull the hook towards a cutting blade.
