NGS® Harken Auricle Clamp is a device that was devised by the innovator in heart surgery, Dwight Harken. Cardiothoracic surgeons use the clamp to grasp the conical atrial pouches, known as the auricles of the heart, when weaving sutures or stopping hemorrhage during cardiac procedures. The finger ring handles have a ratchet assembly that augments self-retained closures of the clamp. The blades have a blunt design to prevent inadvertent trauma, and are at a right angle with the neck to reach deep cardiac tissues. The inner aspects of the jaws are lined with a band of serrations to guarantee optimal and atraumatic grasps.
